How to Play Octopus

Most mornings for fitness we go out onto the netball courts to play our favorite game Octopus. We reckon it's a great game because we get fit playing it and we practise using our evasion skills (dodging, weaving, twisting, ducking, side stepping etc)which is important in lots of other games. We play the game by running across two netball courts. Each netball court is an ocean and has three sharks in it. The space between the two netball courts is a beach which has one or two crabs. The aim of the game is for the fish to run across both oceans without being tagged by a shark or crab. To start the game a shark calls a fish to cross the oceans then chases the fish in his/her ocean. If the fish is caught, he/she becomes an octopus. Octopuses can tig fish but have to stay in the spot where he/she got caught. They can only move their arms to tig. The crab can also tig the fish but only in the beach between the netball courts. Sharks have to stay in their own ocean. If the fish makes it across the oceans all the fish then run together across the oceans to the other side. Then a shark calls for another fish to cross. The game is over when all the fish are caught and become octopuses.
